Hello, Emmaus Community

I hope you all are doing well and especially staying warm.  We have had some cold temperatures lately and it is going to be a few days before it warms up.  I pray you are prospering and in health.  I just had cataract surgery on my right eye, and it went well.  I have had floaters since I had a detached retina a few years ago, but they are a little worse.  Hopefully that will settle down.

Our next community meeting is March 3^rd at Lakeridge United Methodist Church at 4701 82^nd street in the basement.  Board meeting is at 5:30, Babe Chick meeting is at 5:45, Meal at 6 (bring something to share), and community meeting at 7:15.  Please plan on attending as it will be my last Community Meeting as your Community Lay Director. 

The next Kairos Outside if April 1 thru 3.  Della Taylor is the leader.

Our next men’s walk is April 7 thru 10.  Tom Clark is the Lay Director.

Our next women’s walk is June 23 thru 26. Madeline Bates is the leader.

We had a visiting pastor at our Sunday morning service recently and he talked about taking ownership of what God has given us to do.  I believe I have taken ownership of our Emmaus Community as the Community Lay Director for the past two years.  I have done my best to follow the leading of Christ and the Holy Spirit and lead our community through some troubling times.  We have been through Covid and a time when we had to cancel walks and have outdoor community meetings.  But God has blessed our community and kept us safe.  I believe it is time for you as community members to take ownership of our community.  It is time to rebuild our community to what it once was.  We used to have waiting lists to go on a walk.  We only had 15 ladies and 19 men on the last two walks.  It is time for you to step up and start sponsoring pilgrims on the next walks. It is time for you to step up and support send off, candlelight, and closing.  It is time for you to attend community meetings.  It is time for you to come back and be a team member on our walks.  You remember what it was like when you went on your first walk.  It is time to take ownership of our community and be a team member. I encourage you to take ownership and let’s work together to build Christen leaders. 

Thank you for allowing me to be your Community Lay Director.  I have enjoyed my time in this position and feel blessed to have served.  I pray our community continues to grow and continuously has God’s blessing and guidance.  May God richly bless each one of you.

I pray all are doing well. I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas. Enjoy the beauty of the most wonderful time of the year. O come let us adore him. I hope you are enjoying the warm weather. 

The scripture I would like to share with you is Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Child is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”  

The next men’s walk is January 13-16. Cy Hill is the Lay Director. The next women’s walk is February 17-20. Cindy Terzenbach is the Lay Director. Please be in prayer for the team and pilgrims on these walks. Please get your pilgrims signed up as soon as possible. Please plan on attending send off, candlelight, and closing. You will be blessed by attending.

The next Community meeting will be Thursday December 2^nd at Lakeridge United Methodist Church, 4701 82^nd Street in the basement. The potluck meal will be at 6pm with the community meeting at 7:15. Come fellowship and worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with us. We look forward to seeing you.

I hope you are enjoying the cooler weather as much as I am.  I love this time of year. Hopefully it stays with us for several weeks before the cold temperatures get here. 

I pray everyone is doing well!  We are well. I had to go through a skin peel from too much sun when I was young.  It was not fun. I had to apply a harsh cream to my face, neck, and nose for 3 weeks, that killed the precancerous skin. I then waited for the dead skin to peel off.  It was very painful, and I had several sleepless nights.  By the grace of God, I was able to make it through.  Now my face is bright with the new skin. Going through this process has reminded me that accepting Christ and letting Him clean up our lives from the scars of our past and the mistakes we have made is sometimes painful but gives us a bright new future. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17. All you young folks please wear your sunscreen. Of course, as old as I am, there was no sunscreen available back then. If there was, we weren’t aware of it.

The next men’s walk is October 21^st through 24^th.  We need pilgrims for this walk, so if you have someone that would like to attend, please get them signed up. There are scholarships available. Be in prayer for the team and the pilgrims for the best walk ever. It will be at Mercy Center in Slaton, our home location. Please attend sendoff at 7 pm to support the team and pilgrims. Candlelight Saturday night @ 8:00 pm and Closing Sunday @ 4 pm will be at St Joseph’s Church. Please come.

The next Community meeting will be this Thursday October 7th at Lakeridge United Methodist Church, 4701 82^nd Street in the basement.  The potluck meal will be at 6 pm. Please bring a dish to share. The meeting starts at 7:15. Come fellowship and worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with us.  We look forward to seeing you.

I pray that you all are doing well. May God prosper you and bless you with good health and may the plague not come near your dwelling per Psalms 91.

The scriptures I want to share with you today are the promises in Romans 8; Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” 8:35 “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress or persecution or famine, or nakedness, or peril.” 8:37 “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loves us.” Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ even in our rebellion and disobedience, He still loves us.

The next men’s walk is October 21st through 24th. I understand the team is coming together. Please be in prayer for the team and the pilgrims that will attend that God will touch each of them in a special way. Please sign-up pilgrims for this walk. It will be at the Mercy Center with possible restrictions for the safety of all concerned.

A men’s walk from Living Water Community held the end of July at Amherst had some pilgrims and team come down with Covid. Pray for the family of the man who passed and for our sister Emmaus Community. Please be in prayer for those that have covid for a quick and successful recovery.

I pray that you all are doing well. May God prosper you and bless you with good health.

The scripture I want to share this month is Psalms 96:1-2, “Sing a new song to the Lord! Sing to the Lord; praise His name. Each day proclaim the good news that He saves.”

I enjoy listening to Christian music. But as far as writing a new song, I don’t think God gave me that talent!! It is all I can do to remember the words of songs I have heard and hit the right note.

Women’s walk #154 was a few weeks ago and from the lady’s testimonies God touched them in a special way. Candlelight was great with a large number that showed up. Closing was awesome and the sponsors were able to watch it on the big screen in the annex. All the sponsors were able to take communion with the pilgrims.

The men’s walks for August and September have been cancelled due to them being so close together. It was decided that we will concentrate on one Men’s walk in October and try to have a full walk. Pray that the Mercy Center can open up without restrictions.

The August Community meeting will be Thursday August 5th at Lakeridge United Methodist Church in the basement at 4701 82nd Street. The babe chick meeting will be a 5:45 pm, with the meal starting at 6 pm and the Community Meeting will be at 7:15 pm. This will be a potluck meal, so please being a dish to share. Come fellowship and worship our Lord and Savior with us. Let’s welcome our new Babe Chicks to our community.
