From the Desk of the Lay Director – Aug 2016

1 John 4:7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.

Sheila KirbyHey Community! It’s August and the lazy days of Summer are quickly coming to a close. I’ve heard all my life that the older you get the faster time flies. The closer I get to my 60th Birthday I’ve realized just how true that is. Our girls are grown and gone and now my grandkids are growing up fast and furious. Sometimes I wish I could just stop the clock and go back to a slower time, but that’s not how God meant it to be is it? I do wish I could go back and do things differently though, don’t you? I know I’d spend more time with my precious family and friends and a whole lot less time hurrying around trying to figure out where I was going…chasing my tail…trying to make ends meet. I’d certainly devote a lot more time showing Jesus to others. That’s what we’re all really here for, don’t you think? I know it is! We were created to spend all our days showing everyone how much we love them and more importantly how much Jesus loves them! That’s what I’d like to be able to say I spent the rest of my time doing, wouldn’t you?

This month we get a good chance to do that as a community. Thursday, August 4, I hope to see you on the Holy Spirit Patio of Mercy Center at send-off for Women’s Walk 138 at 7:00 PM, then over at St. Joseph’s at 8:00 PM on Saturday for Candlelight and back there at 4:00 PM on Sunday for closing. Please join me for as many of the walk activities as you can and help show these beautiful ladies and team how much love Christ has for them and how we all want to be part of that love.

Our August Community Gathering will be at St. Joseph’s Thursday, August 4, immediately following send-off. We won’t share a meal together this month. Instead, bring food and drink items to Mercy Center for the walk.
