Hey Emmaus Community!
The scripture I have for you this month is Psalms 62: 5-8. My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.
I hope everyone is well and Covid-19 is staying away from your door. We are staying healthy, through the grace of God. Let us continue to cover our community in prayer.
Do you remember the movie, Bill and Ted’s excellent adventure? Well, we went on an adventure and called it Blue and Digit’s Excellent Adventure. Some elderly friends of ours weren’t doing and had to move to where their kids were in Billerica, MA, just north of Boston. They could not determine a way to get their car or their dog Digit there. So, we volunteered to drive their little blue car and take Digit. We left Lubbock on Friday June 12th and in a roundabout way seeing family and friends on the way we made it to Billerica and flew back on Saturday June 20th. It was a long trip, but we got to see lots of God’s creation on the way. We took a side trip to Lancaster, PA to see the Amish country and Hershey, Pa. We brought back lots of Hershey chocolate. There were no problems or complications and we give God praise for a safe trip. The only struggle was the car we drove was a small Chevrolet Spark with no cruise control and hand crank windows. But it did have air conditioning and an automatic transmission. God blessed us with an enjoyable and safe trip.
If you missed the Community Meeting on June 4th, you missed a great meeting. The weather was good, not too hot with a slight breeze. God showed up and even though it was outside it was great. Some stayed in their cars while others brought chairs.
The next community meeting will be July 9th. We will be meeting at Oakwood United Methodist Church, 2215 58th Street. We will be practicing social distancing. It is not a requirement to wear a mask but we request that you please wear one, especially if you have a cough or sneeze due to allergies which I have been struggling with since March. The board meeting will be at 5:45 with the community meeting at 7pm and we will NOT be sharing a meal. After the meeting we could use your help in spraying the door handles, toilet stalls and any place we might have touched with Lysol. If anyone would like to form a committee to see that this is done so we are organized and not re-cleaning the same area, please let me know and I will notify the community to work with you. Your help will be greatly appreciated. I hope to see you there.
I will be working this month to get the website up to date. I apologize; it should have already been done. Our next walks are as follows:
- Women’s Walk August 6-9, 2020
- Men’s Walk September 17-20
- Women’s Walk October 22-25
- Kairos Outside September 25-27
- Kairos November 5-8
We trust the Lord that these will not have to be changed. However, we will have to still practice social distancing and following new guidelines which may change from time to time. But we want to keep the true meaning and keep God first in everything we do. Please start praying for these walks and for wisdom for the leaders as they continue to put these walks together.
May God richly bless each one of you in a special way and keep you safe.
