Chrysalis – September 2013

Ceta CanyonWOW, what a work God did the first weekend of August at Ceta Canyon. We had 18 young men and 23 young women that stood face to face with Jesus. 3 communities really stepped up to make this a special weekend for these butterflies. I want to personally thank Jared Chrestman and Shayla Erickson for their hard work, dedication and flexible spirits as they led these teams to be Christ’s hands and feet to the these High School Kids.

We have 2 Young Adult Chrysalis’s coming up September 5-8 and 12-15. Steffanie Dayton will lead the girls starting on the 8th, Mark Miller will then be leading the next weekend for guys journey, please plan to come out to any of the 4th day activities. We still need caterpillars for these weekends. Contact me if you need any information. There are full scholarships available.
Mark your calendar for the 3rd Annual Prime Rib Fundraising Dinner December 7th at the Animal Science Building at Texas Tech. We have such a great time and it is a great way to bless these young people as we are able to send them on a Chrysalis without them having to worry about how to pay for it.

I want you to know it has been an honor and privilege to serve this community as the Chrysalis Community Lay Director, after the 2 Journeys in September Jared Chrestman will be taking over to serve you. Please continue to invest in the young people they are the future and will bring revival to our very thirsty for God country.

And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching. Titus 2:7

Chrysalis – August 2013

Psalm 115Almost a year ago the Chrysalis board began an adventure. We knew we had to make a High School Chrysalis appealing to the young people in our area. We had to have appealing dates, a place for them to feel comfortable and involvement of other Emmaus communities in our area. Thursday August 1 marked the culmination of the efforts of the Llano Emmaus Community, The Living Water Community and the New Horizon Community. We have had many, many obstacles to overcome which tells us we have been on the right track and we give God glory and praise for these obstacles.

We still have room for any High School guy or girl that would like to start out the weekend as a caterpillar and by Sunday become a beautiful butterfly. I would like to encourage you to send someone, to make some agape, to pray, to come to candlelight or closing.

Psalm 115
1 Not to us, O Lord, not to us,
but to your name goes all the glory
for your unfailing love and faithfulness.

Invest in the lives of your young people they will bring revival to our land. Let me know if you have any agape we can pick up for you or if you would like to make donations to our Chrysalis scholarship fund. We can still use prop supplies if you have anything you want to get rid of. My cell is 806-773-8761 and my email is roan.cowen@gmail.com.

If you are not helping with the Chrysalis, attending any 4th day activities at Ceta please turn out for the Women’s walk in Slaton. YOUR COMMUNITY NEEDS YOU!!

Chrysalis – July 2013

bag of moneyWhat’s the most outrageous thing you have ever asked God for? That a twenty pound sack of money would spill at your feet? That the pimple growing like a third eye in the middle of your forehead would disappear by morning? That your parents would slip you a Ferrari for graduation-or sooner?

Jesus said we can ask him for anything. That’s right, he said anything! John 14:13 says he had a good reason to extend this invitation. Jesus-our only way to the Father and our only way to know what the Father is like-also wants to teach us to show off God’s greatness. Here’s the formula:

Your prayer for anything in Christ’s name
+ Christ’s perfect answer to your prayer
= Glory to the Father.

When we pray in Christ’s name, we are asking for our requests to be fulfilled in Christ’s will. Since Jesus knows how to bring glory to God, he will answer our prayers in his best way so that God receives the glory he deserves. Devotional by Josh McDowell

Please send us caterpillars to bless, food agape and pillow agape a plenty and an amazing weekend to glorify you in Jesus name.

August is quickly approaching and we have 2 amazing teams getting ready to bless your High School kids. Send in your applications for the Guy’s and Girl’s High School Chrysalis being held at Ceta Canyon August 1-4. Please email me if you have any questions.
On July 11th at our next community meeting Chrysalis will be helping with the service. We will be having a 4th day speaker and doing mime communion. Please come out and join us.

Next college jouneys are:

September 5-8 for Girls  – Steffanie Dayton Lay Director, Tabitha Cowen Youth Lay Rep and Tobi McMillian Spiritual Director.

The very next weekend September 12-15 Dr. Mark Miller will lead with Markus Miller as Youth Lay Rep and Dan Chrestman as Spiritual director.

Chrysalis – June 2013

Get the word out. Teach all these things. And don’t let anyone put you down because you’re young. Teach believers with your life: by word, by demeanor, by love, by faith, by integrity. Stay at your post reading Scripture, giving counsel, teaching. And that special gift of ministry you were given when the leaders of the church laid hands on you and prayed—keep that dusted off and in use.
1 Timothy 4:11-14 The Message

It is time to sign up your High Schoolers for the Summer Chrysalis. Age 15 to 18 and completed their freshman year in High School. Applications on the Llano Emmaus website. Be sure if your student is under 18 that you get the form notarized.
