From the Desk of the Lay Director – Mar. 2021

Hello Llano Emmaus Community,

I pray you had a wonderful weekend. I know for sure the Women and men on Women’s walk 156 had a wonderful weekend. According to their testimonies at closing, God touched them in a special way.

The scripture I want to share is Psalm 18: 1-2.  “I will love You, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom will I trust; My shield and the horn (strength) of my salvation, my stronghold.

At candlelight, during the song service, we had a lady collapse. There were two ladies in the audience that were EMTs and they started working with her. They could not find a radial pulse in her wrist. Chris stepped up and lead us in prayer for her. The ambulance came and took her to the hospital. We were blessed that the ambulance was gone when the pilgrims came over. The EMTs came to me later and told us that as soon as we prayed her radial pulse came up. They said they have never seen that happen before. We got a report on her yesterday at closing and she was home recovering. God hears and answers our prayers.

It has been a year since I have done a candlelight and closing and the last one I did was when Karen Cox was the Community Lay Director. That was considered “practice” and it appears that the practice helped as I made it through with only one blunder. But I felt the presence of God at all activities that I attended.

Are you ready for our Community Meeting? It is Thursday March 4th at Broadway Church of Christ, 1924 Broadway at 7pm. No meal at this time. Please come and worship with us and enjoy the fellowship.

Ladies of Women’s Walk 156, please go to our facebook page and ask to join. The page is Llano Estacado Chrysalis/Emmaus Community. Please come to this website for information on Community Meetings and Walks. I hope to see you Thursday March 4th at the babe chick meeting and our Community Meeting.

Our next walk is March 11th through 14th. If you have pilgrims, please get them sponsored and start praying for this women’s walk. Just looking at the calendar, that Sunday will be the change to daylight savings time, so the ladies will not only be tired from the weekend but will also loose an hours sleep.

We have had several say that they want to get back involved with our Emmaus Community. So, get ready, we are coming back stronger than ever by the grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I pray that the God will bless you in a mighty way and that His love and grace and peace will surround you. I pray that you will prosper and be in health.

Hey Llano Emmaus Community

Please plan on attending our Community meeting at Agape United Methodist Church, 1215 Slide Road on Thursday February 7th at 7 pm. We will be live streaming it on our Facebook page and it will remain there for the next 30 days for your viewing. We will be praying for the Women’s Walk team. The walk will be February 25th- 28th. Please be praying for this walk. I will be sending out information later regarding community participation on this walk. Sponsors will be receiving a call from a team member with final instructions for send off, candlelight, and closing procedures.

I hope everyone is doing well and the virus is staying away from your door per Psalms 91. We are doing well by the Grace of God.

The board has voted that the officers that were to go off the board April 1st, this year will remain in place until April 1st, 2022. This means that all board members will remain in place for an added year. This is due to most walks being cancelled last year. The walks being cancelled especially affected me as I was not able to host community meetings, candlelight, and closing ceremonies. This means we should get bonus pay at the end of the year, right? Please pray that all walks will be able to take place, and none will be cancelled this year and no one, team member or pilgrim will be affected by COVID-19 or other illnesses.

I am looking forward to worshipping with you Thursday night. If you cannot make it to the meeting, you can view it on our Facebook page.

Hello Llano Estacado Emmaus Community.

Well, it is the beginning of a new year and I am looking forward to a new beginning.  Even though Covid-19 is still prevalent, I am believing that it is on the way out.  I hope your Christmas was a wonderful time as we celebrated our Savior’s birth.  We celebrated with just Bonnie and I, but it was really special.  I am kind of getting bored with Hallmark movies though.

I want to share a scripture I have shared before because it still holds true today.  Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not for I am with you:  Be not dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you.

The board decided that with several circumstances involved, we have moved the January Men’s walk to February 18th -21st.  The Women’s walk is still February 25th-28th.  Please get your pilgrims notified and signed up for these walks.  There is a Kairos Outside weekend on April 9th -11.  If you know a lady that has been affected by incarceration, please get them signed up for this weekend.  Please be in prayer for these weekends events that God will touch lives again through our Emmaus Community.

We have reached our goal of $5000.00 and will be sending the final check with a matching amount from the Emmaus Community to make a total donation of $10,000.00.  Thanks so much to all who donated to meet this goal to help the Mercy Center through this trying time.

We have cancelled the January Community meeting due to Churches are still not letting us use their facilities and the few that are, we do not want to abuse that privilege.  Looking forward to a February Community meeting when we can again worship together.

May God richly bless each one of you!!

December Update

Hey Llano Emmaus Community.

Just a reminder that we have cancelled the December Community Meeting.  I will miss seeing your smiling faces (even while you are wearing a mask) and worshipping with you.

We are now at $4,036.83 on our fundraising efforts for Mercy Center.  We are less than $1,000.00 from our goal.  If you have not donated, please pray about it and if you are led to do so, please donate as soon as possible.  Even a small amount will help us reach our goal. You can do that at this link.

We have several in our community that are fighting Covid19.  Please be in prayer for those that are suffering with it.

I pray each of you have a healthy, safe and wonderful Thanksgiving and may it be a joyful time for you and your family. Give thanks with a grateful heart.

May God richly bless each one of you!!

Covid Update – Nov 2020

November 6, 2020

Llano Estacado Emmaus Community,

It is with much disappointment that the board voted last night to cancel the December community meeting and to postpone the Men’s Walk for November,. With the rise in Covid19 cases, we felt it was not a good idea to continue with the walk at this time.  If you had pilgrims ready to go, please let them know – but stay in touch. This will not last forever.

The next Men’s walk is January 14-17 and the Women’s walk is February 25-28.  Please pray that we can start 2021 with walks and Community meetings filling up and God can again move in the hearts and lives of our Community.  My theme for this year was “Get Excited about Emmaus”, but it has been difficult to get excited when we are in the situation we are in now.  I pray that in January God will bless our Community and we can all come back and get excited about what God is going to do.

May God richly bless each one of you and protect and keep you in His everlasting arms.  My favorite scripture is Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am you God.  I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you.  I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”  Continue to trust him.
