Chrysalis May 2016

Kim Smith EmmausHello, May!! I don’t know about you, but I am ready for warmer weather. I love the newness of all things, flowers blooming, grass turning green, trees coming out, birds singing, new calves running in the field, and sweet baby kittens. Yes, we live on a farm. New life, what a precious thing, not only in just being born, but reborn! Thank you Jesus, for loving us enough to die on the cross for us! Romans 5:8, ”But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

The chrysalis board are getting items together for a great raffle. We will have some big ticket items to be raffled off to raise money for our scholarship fund. As of right now, we have a Prime Rib Package, a Steak Package, a 360 lbs. ground meat package, a smoker/grill, and working on several more, big items. If you are interested in sponsoring an item, please let one of the board members know as soon as possible.

We are also getting plans together for our annual December fundraising meal. It will be held again at the Windmill Center on December 10th from 5 to 8. Get that on your calendar now! Prime rib, steak or pork loin, your choice, yum! If you have a business, group, or family gathering that would like to have the Christmas party at the dinner, we would love to serve you and make it something special for your group. We will decorate and serve, you just show up, what a deal!

That’s all for now, see you Thursday!

Chrysalis March 2016

Hello,

Kim Smith EmmausI can’t believe it is March! We would like to invite all of you to our fundraiser at McAlisters on 82nd street, March 1st. We could make it one big reunion night! We all love to visit and eat, so let’s do it and raise money for the college journeys. All money raised goes towards scholarships for the caterpillars. We want to thank you in advance for coming and supporting Chrysalis.

Our next journeys are in September, so be praying about who you can invite to take this great journey with us.

Blessings,
Kim Smith

Chrysalis Feb 2016

Kim Smith EmmausHappy New Year, I’m sorry you didn’t get a hello from me last month! The way this year has started off, God has reminded me many times how I need to be still and listen to Him. Our family has already had lots going on, and yet we can see God is all over our situations! I love how he shows us HIS plan is much bigger and better than ours, especially in the hard times.  Even though we can’t see why things bad or hard things seem to be happening, God has the perfect plan. So, I encourage you to look for God even in the small and hard times.

I want to thank you for supporting the December Fundraiser.  It was fabulous! It was great to see many of you supporting the scholarships for the Chrysalis journeys.

As I type this, the young men’s journey lead by Trapper Burrus is in full swing. There are 18 young men being blessed at Mercy Center right now. Earlier this month, Kayla Watson and her team lead a wonderful group of young ladies. The young ladies were awesome and God filled the Mercy Center that weekend! Thank you Kayla and Trapper for answering God’s call, you both are amazing! I would like to encourage you to invite someone now for the September journeys.  We would love to have it overflowing and a waiting list going. Thank you for supporting the young people-our future leaders.

Chrysalis Dec 2015

Kim Smith EmmausNo one wants to go through difficult periods alone. No one likes to stand up and be the lone voice. We want to know someone has our back or is standing with us. We carry out our responsibilities better when we encourage one another. As we enter the Christmas season, we can strengthen our relationships when we offer our support and encouragement to others. Our ultimate calling is to lead others to place of greater commitment to God.

Please be in prayer of someone God wants you to ask to be a part of the upcoming Chrysalis in January. Remember there is no cost to send a caterpillar on a Chrysalis. So please don’t let that hinder you from asking a young person to a Chrysalis. Kayla Watson and her team are preparing for the Chrysalis that will be held January 7-10. Trapper Burris is preparing for his first team meeting this Saturday. This journey is January 28-31. Thank you Kayla and Trapper for answering God’s call. We already have several caterpillars ready to go, so as I said before, be in prayer about who God wants you to ask, you don’t know until you ask!

I wanted to remind you again about our Annual Scholarship Dinner. It will be held December 12 at the Bayer Crop Science Museum of Agriculture. It is come and go from 5:30-9:00 p.m. Tickets are $30 (please remember this is a fund raiser) and you have a choice of Prime Rib, Pork Loin or Steak with all the fixings, drinks and entertainment. I realize Graduation is that weekend also, but what better way to feed family & friends that have come into town, than to take them to a great meal while helping to replenish our scholarship fund. Please see any Chrysalis Board member for tickets or more information. All funds go directly into our Scholarship fund for future Journeys. I thank you in advance for your support.

Chrysalis – Nov 2015

Kim Smith Emmaus“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the WORD of our GOD stands forever.” Isaiah 40:8

The leaves will be turning, the weather will get cooler and it will get dark sooner. The season is changing but, one thing is certain, God never changes! The Chrysalis board has really been focusing on prayer. We realize that prayer can change everything. Maybe there are things in your life, like mine that need to change. It may be prayer life, studying God’s word more, even attitudes – whatever it is, God can show us and help us make that change.

I recently came across a saying that says “Faith and Prayer both are invisible, but they make impossible things possible! As we go through November, let’s remember to pray and slow down long enough to listen. I know I don’t want to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of November and December.

Please be in prayer over someone God wants you to ask to be a part of the January Chrysalis. Remember there is no cost to send a caterpillar on a Chrysalis, so please don’t let that hinder you from inviting a young person to a Chrysalis. Kayla Watson and her team are preparing for the Chrysalis that will be held January 7-10. Trapper Burris is preparing and seeking God while putting together a team for January 28-31. Thank you Kayla and Trapper for answering God’s call. We already have several caterpillars ready to go, so as I said before, be in prayer about who God wants you to ask.
