Chrysalis – Dec 2014

Merry ChristmasReady or not, the Christmas Season is upon us once again! Running around from this store to the next, trying to find that perfect present. Praise God the perfect present was born in Bethlehem over 2000 years ago.

“The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the City of David!”
“Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”
Luke 2:12 and 14

I would like to thank everyone who came to Blue Sky last month to help with our first fundraiser. We all had some great food, wonderful fellowship and helped out with our scholarship fund.

Our 4th Annual Chrysalis Fund Raiser is this Saturday, December 6th. Tickets are on sale now and available from any board member and you can also pay at the door. Price is $20 for adults and $10 for children. We will have a BBQ dinner with all the fixins and it will be held at At’l Do Farms Corn Maize near Shallowater. So if when you’re done with that early shopping, come on out and enjoy a great time of food & fellowship. Please get with anyone on the board for tickets and more information.

If you can’t make it out to Shallowater on Saturday, you can go by McAlister’s Deli on 82nd street on December 9th. Mention Chrysalis and we will receive part of all sales from 5:00 until closing. It’s another great opportunity to help out Chrysalis. We hold these fundraisers so that young men and women can benefit from a Chrysalis weekend. Everything that is made from these events goes directly into our scholarship fund to help these young people with a life changing experience.

Ashley Yates is all ready for Young Women’s Journey #36 to be held January 8-11, 2015 and I know would appreciate your prayers. If you know of any young ladies you think would benefit from a Chrysalis weekend, please get those applications in so we can get this Journey filled.

Jason Lindeman is also getting his them together for his Journey in March. Please keep him and the team he is building in your prayers as they are forming to bring Jesus to the young men who will be caterpillars on this Journey.

I pray that this season of hustle & bustle will hurry you to the realization that Jesus is the reason for the season. I know that sounds cliché an all, but the end, He is what we are to celebrate.

Enjoy your families and have a Merry Christmas!

Chrysalis – Nov 2014

Denise C-3Wow! It cannot be November already! The season of extra busyness is almost upon us, and the Christmas season is creeping into everyday life. In some places it has alread arrived in full force. But before celebrating the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ, let’s not forget Thanksgiving and try to be mindful of all the things that God has so graciously given us. I pray that we, as the body of Christ, can remember to give thanks to God daily as the Levites did as they watched over the Tabernacle and Temple:

“And each morning and evening they stood before the LORD to sing songs of thanks and praise to Him.” 1 Chronicles 23:30

On November 3rd, Blue Sky on 98th Street will be donating a portion of all sales from the entire day, when you mention Emmaus/Chrysalis. You can dine in or take out, so when the family gets hungry, bring them out and grab some burgers.

Please remember to keep Ashley Yates in your prayers as she gets ready to lead the Young Women’s Journey January 8-11, 2015. She has put together an amazing team and I’m sure they would appreciate prayers for upcoming meetings as well as the caterpillars God has called to be on this Journey.

Again, if you have any questions about anything Chrysalis, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me or any other board member and we will get you answers. I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving and hope the time you spend with family and friends is blessed beyond measure!

Chrysalis – Oct 2014

Denise C-3When I was first approached about becoming the Chrysalis Community Lay Director, I was pretty hesitant. For those of you who know me, I’m a much happier person hanging out behind the scenes, doing whatever I can to help. And for that reason, I put off letting Jared know one way or the other. It wasn’t until I heard a sermon one Sunday. The gist of that sermon was, “You have faith. Great! That’s awesome! Now what are you going to do with it?” That’s when I called Jared and let him know I would attempt to take over. So with that in mind, I want to thank Jared & Hope for the amazing job they have done this past year! I am sure I will be relying on all their expertise to help along this transition.

September saw two amazing College Age Journeys come & go. Nineteen young women and fifteen young men experienced the love of Christ in a whole new way, thanks to Patty Davenport and David Hunt and the Llano Emmaus Community. Patty & David did an absolutely amazing job and I’m sure both weekends will be remembered and looked upon as a life changing experience. Lives have been changed for the Kingdom!

Ashley Yates is on tap to run the Young Women’s Journey at the beginning of January and Jason Lindeman is ready to lead Young Men’s Journey in March. We are excited to see how God works through them and the teams He is building. Please be in prayer for both teams as they are coming together and also for the Caterpillars God has already called to be a part of Chrysalis.

the MazeOur 4th Annual Chrysalis Fund Raiser is in the works for Saturday, December 6th. Due to scheduling conflicts and various other factors, the location and menu have changed. We will have a BBQ dinner with all the fixins and it will be held at At’l Do Farms Corn Maze near Shallowater. Be on the lookout for ticket sales to start soon. This is an excellent opportunity to give friends, family and co-workers the gift of a great meal as well as helping to replenish our scholarship fund.

Again, I am looking forward to an amazing year for Chrysalis and hope everyone will reap the benefits of the work being done. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions and I will do my best to get them answered as best I can.
