From the Desk of the Lay Director – March 2016

Hello Everyone,

Frank McClelland2God bless you!  What a busy season!  I guess they all are.  We have had two Chrysalis Journeys and two Walks in the last two months and Jesus was at the center of all of the weekends.  No surprise there…He always is.  It is very exciting to witness and be a part of.

Though the next month or so is not quite as busy, stay committed to prayer for the upcoming Walks/Journeys.  Stay committed to your reunion/accountability group.  If you don’t have one, ask for help.  Check out the Reunion Group page on the website.  Call or email one of the contacts on the website.  Any one of us would be more than glad to help you.

Please attend the monthly Community Gathering coming up March 3rd.  We will meet at Westmont Christian Church, 4808 Utica in Lubbock.  The meal begins at 6:30 and the meeting starts at 7:00ish.  Along with the great worship, delicious food, and outstanding fellowship, we will be electing some new officers and board members to the Board of Directors.

I am excited to see you all!  Again I say God bless you!

Frank McLelland

Frank McClelland2Happy New Year!

I hope and pray that you are all well.  I hope and pray that the Lord is inspiring you and encouraging you to follow Him more and more.  By the way, that doesn’t depend on Him… He is always doing His part.  It depends on our obedience.  Hang in there!

I am truly amazed at how fast time is passing.  We have had a lot happen in the new year and it is only one month old.  We have had a Young Women’s Chrysalis Journey, a Men’s Walk, and as I write this , there is a Young Men’s Chrysalis Journey going on.  God is so good and faithful.

It doesn’t stop there.  We have our monthly Community Gathering on Thursday, February 4th at the First Baptist Church in Tahoka.  The meal starts at 6:30 and the meeting will start at 7:30 to 7:45.  Bring your favorite snack or meal to share.  After that, Ginger Light and her team will put on a Women’s Walk  February 18 – 21.  Please come support them.

Lastly, as you may recall, we have really been pushing involvement in a Reunion group or some other accountability group.  I can’t emphasize it enough.  It can make a lasting difference in all of our lives.  If you don’t have one, look on the Reunion Groups page on this website.  There is a list of men’s and women’s reunion groups that are willing to accept new members.  Check it out.

See you at Community!

Frank McClelland2Greetings and Happy New Year!

I hope and pray that you all are warm and safe. Since it is snowing sideways, I thought I would write to you. I can’t believe it was 65 degrees on Christmas Day. This has to remind us that no matter how our circumstances change, our Lord doesn’t. As the new year begins, let us all make the same resolution…that is to draw closer to God.

Let’s also help others to do the same. I encourage you to sponsor someone on a Walk or Chrysalis. There are three great opportunities in January. Check the website for details.

We are going to have the January Community Gathering on Thursday, January 7th, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Slaton. We will meet at 6:30 on the patio at the Mercy Center for the Young Women’s Chrysalis Send-off and when they go in to the conference room, we will go across the street to St. Joseph’s. Please bring food like you would for a normal Community. The girls on the Chrysalis will need it.

Also, as we have mentioned several times the last few months, I encourage you to get involved in some kind of accountability group if you are not already in one. You can call it a Reunion Group if you want. I promise it will make a positive difference in your life. There will be times when you will experience God’s presence like you did on your Walk.

See you January 7th!

Frank McClelland2Greetings Everybody, I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! We have so much to be thankful for. Every day should be Thanksgiving.

I know that this time of year brings extra stress. Our money gets scarce and our time is eroded with so many obligations. Try to take time each day to “be still and know that I am God.” Just stay connected with Him and let Him carry the load. He didn’t die on that cross so that we would be living in chaos! He came so that we “may have life and that we may have it more abundantly”. As Christmas approaches, I remember the Priority talk on my pilgrim Walk. The speaker said, “The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.”

We have our monthly Community Gathering this evening at First Christian Church, which is located at 2323 Broadway in Lubbock. Bring your favorite food for the meal. It starts at 6:30 and the meeting will start no later than 7:15. I can’t wait to see you all there! Have a blessed and Merry Christmas if I don’t see you.

Hello Community,

Frank McClelland2I hope and pray that you are all well. I know that life can be so busy that we can be easily overwhelmed. That probably isn’t going to change. I encourage you to constantly talk to Jesus and remember how much that He loves you. Stay active or get active in a reunion group. We all need to be around people that will encourage us and hold us accountable. These things really do make a difference.

The vision and planning session that we talked about a month ago took place and a lot of good things came out of it. What it basically boils down to is that our prayer lives need to really flourish and our participation in some sort of accountability group is vital. As those two areas of our personal lives grow, so will our involvement in ministry and discipleship. (Matthew 28:19-20)

Lastly, our good friend Darris Linder retired as Director of Mercy Retreat Center. The Llano Estacado Emmaus Community owes him a debt of gratitude for all of the ways he has served that we can never repay. Thank you Brother Darris!

Please try to attend the Community gathering this Thursday at Aldersgate UMC. You will be glad you came! The meal will be at 6:30 and the meeting will follow at about 7:15.
