Chrysalis – February 2014

Chrysalis logoThanks for all the support on the January College Women’s Chrysalis. All of the reports were fantastic and a big thank you goes out to Kim Smith for doing a fantastic job and for allowing God to use that whole team to reach so many young women. Please be in prayer as Kim’s husband Lynn Smith as he and his team are still preparing for the Young Men’s Chrysalis #26 on March 27th- 30th.

We still have plenty of room available so make sure you sponsor someone. Full scholarships are available. We appreciate all the help and support that you as the community give and couldn’t be more blessed than to work along side you in this ministry. Have a great February!

Chrysalis – January 2014

2014 card2014 is already upon us and I am excited to see what God is going to do this year. A special thanks to all of you who supported our fundraising dinner, we could not have done it without your support. Because of this awesome community many young men and women will get to experience the love that Christ has for them on a Chrysalis Journey.

Don’t forget that January 9-12 we have just such a Journey for young college age women taking place at the Mercy Center. Please don’t hesitate to send in applications because we have plenty of room. As always prayer for Lay Director Kim Smith would be highly appreciated. As most of you know it is not easy to take on this responsibility and your prayers go a long way towards encouraging and spiritually protecting her team.

See you folks at community on January 2!

Chrysalis – December 2013

Well, Thanksgiving has come and gone once again and I hope every one of you thoroughly enjoyed it. No down time is in store however as we move into yet another busy Christmas season. No matter how hectic your schedules become, please remember to pray for Kim Smith as she continues to prepare along with her team to embark on their Chrysalis Journey on January 9-12. We are very excited to start the next year off by watching God bless each of the young ladies that will attend. If any of you know of a college age girl 18-25 years of age, there is still time to sign them up so please don’t hesitate.

Also please be in prayer for Kim Smith’s husband Lynn Smith as he prepares for the boy’s Journey in March. It’s been a special thing to watch this husband and wife duo help each other prepare for these upcoming Journeys and we praise God that this special team answered God’s calling to serve in this capacity.

Prime Rib DinnerOur Chrysalis Fundraiser Banquet is still happening on December 14th at the Animal Sciences building across the street from the United Spirit Arena. It will take place between the hours of 5 and 9. Tickets are $20 each. If you have purchased tickets already please make sure you bring them with you. If for some reason you have been unable to to catch up with somebody selling them don’t worry, you will be allowed to pay at the door. All of the proceeds go directly to the scholarship fund so that college students who can’t afford a Chrysalis experience don’t have to miss out. I can’t think of a better way to help young men and women increase the quality of their personal relationships with Christ than to help send them on one of these Journeys, so please if you can help fund them in any way it would be most appreciated. Also If you want to help us serve food that night it would be most welcome. We need all hands on deck especially from our younger folks. If you would like to volunteer or simply have any questions, please email me at jaredchrestman@yahoo.com.

And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” (Luke 2:10-14 ESV)

God bless you guys and gals and have a very Merry Christmas πŸ™‚

Chrysalis – November 2013

Prime Rib DinnerI can’t believe it’s November already! The hustle and bustle of the holiday season is upon us, but as I am running around town I am seeing Christmas stuff everywhere and have been for a while now. It seems like in our fast pace materialistic lifestyle we have completely forgotten Thanksgiving. It’s so easy to get caught up in this world and all our problems, but I would like to encourage all of you to focus on giving thanks this month.

Psalm 107:1 says….Oh give thanks to The Lord, for he is good, his steadfast love endured forever!

We should be focusing on praising our Father and giving him thanks for all he is doing! So as you go about your busy days remember this verse…

Whatever you do in word or in deed, do it all in the name of The Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father -Colossians 3:27.

We are thankful for everything God is doing in Chrysalis. Please remember to be in prayer for Kim Smith as she gets her team ready for the next girls journey coming up January 9th. Also please don’t forget about our 3rd Annual Prime Rib Fundraiser on December 14th. It will be held at the Animal Science Building at Texas Tech 5:00 p.m- 9:00 p.m. This is a wonderful time of fellowship and food. We have tickets on sale now for $20 and all of the money goes straight to our scholarship fund. Please come out and show your support for Chrysalis and help send other young people on a walk!

Chrysalis – October 2013

Prime Rib DinnerIt is my honor to now accept the reins from Roan Cowan and officially take over all responsibilities as Lay Director of the Chrysalis Community. Roan’s service is highly appreciated and I’m proud to continue to work along side her as we go about serving you and the future caterpillars we’ve yet to meet. Thank you Roan for your hard work and attention to detail. I can’t imagine trying to meet some of our challenges this year without your experienced insight and ability to be flexible.

September was yet another extremely busy month for our Chrysalis Community with two more college journeys under our belt and planning underway for another eventful year. A huge shout out to Steffanie Dayton and Mark Miller for doing an exemplary job by stepping up to the challenge of Lay Directorship and leading the charge with the hearts of humble servants. We saw much fruit from these walks in the form of salvations, rededications, and life transformations that will assuredly continue to impact our local area and beyond.

Kim Smith has graciously accepted the Lay Directorship for our college girls Chrysalis on January 9-12, so please keep her in prayer as her team begins to form and caterpillars begin to sign up.

Also, the 3rd Annual Prime Rib Fundraising Dinner has been rescheduled from the 7th of December to the 14th of December at the Animal Science Building at Texas Tech. Tickets should be available soon and we want to encourage you all to be a part of this event. The proceeds from this fundraiser go straight to the scholarship fund that helps share the Chrysalis experience with those who can’t afford it.

1 Corinthians 15:57-58 “But thanks be to God! He gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your Labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
